Carol Salva Articles & Resources

Carol Salva is a kind and generous person who cares deeply about the teachers she seeks to help.

You wouldn't know it from meeting her now, but she made many of her teachers' lives difficult when she was a child. It is possible that she is trying to make up for that now by providing so much amazing support to teachers.

She co-authored the book Boosting Achievement which is an incredibly helpful book for understanding and supporting SLIFE students (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education).

Carol Salva's Story

Carol lives in Houston, Texas with her husband and three children.

Carol struggled in school academically when she was a kid and relied on  attributes such as perseverance and grit she learned from her immigrant parents. Those experiences certainly informed her decision to become an educator focusing on English learners.

She has won awards such as the Teacher fo the year Award in 2009 as well as the West Houston Chamber's "Christa McAuliffe-In Search of Excellence" Teacher of the Year award in 2010.

She works for Seidlitz Education which supports school districts with resources and training for teachers to help them better meed the needs of English learners. Everything I have seen from Seidlitz tells me that they are a company which puts their vision for making a difference first and foremost.

  1. I would like to have a membership but need clarification as to which one I should use and what the guidelines are. I first heard Carol speak this week at TESOL. WOW! So inspired, as my job is to mentor and create PD for ESOL teachers and content teachers in our district . I would like to continue to learn from these resources. I also want to share ideas, as allowed.

    1. Hi Robin, Carol has been a huge inspiration to me as well. You can find resources on her website which are linked above. You can also find a variety of articles and activity ideas here: https://kid-inspired.com/esol-strategies/
The membership options here at Kid-Inspired are for teachers who need teaching materials to use with their students. You can find more about the different membership options here: https://kid-inspired.com/esl-curriculum/
Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions!
